A new class of Badgers earns UW–Madison Online bachelor’s degrees
Congratulations, graduates! A new class of Badgers earns UW–Madison Online bachelor’s degrees
Completing a degree is no small feat—but doing so entirely online? That’s a testament to unparalleled dedication, discipline and resilience. This past December, a dozen extraordinary students joined the ranks of University of Wisconsin–Madison alumni by completing their degrees through UW–Madison Online.
For Nick Kaufenberg, a St. Paul native now living in River Falls, Wis., the journey was unforgettable. Reflecting on his experience, Nick shared: “One of the most memorable moments was completing my final assignment, knowing it marked the completion of my degree. And one of the best parts of being a Badger? The incredible UW–Madison community.”

Graduate Lee Colt, who was born in Milwaukee but now lives in New York City, added that while finishing his degree was challenging, anything is possible when you put in the time and effort.
Launched in 2020, UW–Madison Online expands access to high-quality education for learners across Wisconsin and beyond. Today, students in the program can select from three Bachelor of Business Administration degrees—in marketing, human resources or management.
What sets UW–Madison Online apart? Courses are taught by the same world-class faculty who teach on campus, ensuring students receive a rigorous, top-tier education. The business degrees, offered through the prestigious Wisconsin School of Business, connect learners with leading experts and a network of ambitious peers.
These programs cater to returning adult students—those with college credits but no bachelor’s degree—who balance education with work, family and other responsibilities. They exemplify the spirit of lifelong learning. Kaufenberg, for example, pursued his degree while serving in the Air Force Reserve.
“Hard work and perseverance have brought our online students to this incredible milestone,” said Maya Evans, program director of UW–Madison Online. “We are so proud of all they’ve accomplished and excited to see the impact they’ll make in their careers, communities and beyond.”
Earning a degree online opens doors to boundless opportunities. Many graduates are advancing in their careers, exploring new professional paths or enriching their personal and professional lives. As new members of the UW–Madison alumni community, they’ve gained not just a diploma but also the knowledge, skills and connections to shape their futures.
Colt, a systems manager for a nonprofit, is excited to add ‘Badger alum’ to his résumé. He encourages prospective UW–Madison Online students to dedicate time and effort to the program, sharing this advice: “Having designated study times helps. It’s all about time. The more you put in, the better.”
As for Kaufenberg, his journey continues this summer as he pursues an MBA with a focus on supply chain management. His advice for prospective students? “Take the leap! It’s easier than you think and way less intimidating than you imagine.”
Learners can start their online degrees in the spring, summer or fall. For more information, contact a UW–Madison Online enrollment coach or visit online.wisc.edu.
