Increasing educational access
The vision of UW–Madison Online is to improve the quality of life in Wisconsin and beyond by expanding access to excellence through online undergraduate degrees.
In 2019, UW–Madison Chancellor Rebecca Blank said one of her top five goals was to strengthen educational outcomes—partly through the addition of a fully online undergraduate degree program by 2020.
In February 2020, the University of Wisconsin–Madison launched UW–Madison Online, designed for people who have earned some college credits or an associate degree and want to complete their bachelor’s.
This program increases access for students who prefer not to attend in person due to work, family, or other commitments. It expands on UW–Madison’s mission to reach students across the state and around the world, allowing more people to achieve their goals.
